After years of working and studying in Massachusetts, Osaka, and Madrid, Mona found it increasingly difficult to say “goodbye” to family and friends. Realizing that there truly is no place like home, she returned to Hawai’i, where she spearheaded the Catering department for a boutique hotel in Waikiki, handling the sales, marketing, and execution of weddings, social, and corporate events. Since launching her company with her best friend Grace, Mona has nurtured WGM into what is now one of Hawai‘i’s leading boutique style wedding planning companies. In 2006, Mona was named to Pacific Business News’ "Forty Under 40," an award established to recognize Hawai‘i’s emerging young leaders. She has published numerous wedding related articles and has been featured in local and Japanese magazines. In her spare time, she speaks to high school and university students on entrepreneurship and her career field. While Mona makes it a priority to maintain a “big picture” focus on the company’s future, her heart remains devoted to working directly with brides and grooms.
